I’m not very clued up in the details of how video is captured but sure this is a simple question for someone.

Is the 1080p 30fps video captured on the front facing camera identical in quality to the 1080p 30fps video captured on the rear camera?

No, the front camera has a much smaller sensor (1.0 um pixel pitch) compared to the wide angle rear camera.

Image quality and contrast will be significantly better using the rear camera.

The rear lens has a much better lens, too. The difference is very obvious, and the rear camera has a much better picture than the front.
