If you send a 1080p video via email it compresses the original file so you lose the original 1080p and compressed it to VGA. I understand the email version would need to be compressed but it seems I lose the original 1080p video from the iphone. I now have a permanent VGA file instead of the 1080p.

That's not compression, it's transcoding.

and it's probably a email limit.

why would you email 1080P videos to yourself, when their in the camera roll?

iOS optimizes photos when transferring to an iDevice. It may have done that with your video?

thats weird....

what's also weird is that even when you email it, that the quality is crap. I remember when I first got the iPhone 4, the videos would be degraded so badly via text. Therefore I resorted to emailing the videos which preserved the quality (I think)... at least they were somewhat better.

that's disappointing to hear that the 1080p is compressed so much via email

I hate explaining myself twice.. NO the file on physical iphone is now permanent compressed. I lost the 1080p. And didn't send it to myself I send it to a friend. duh..
