1080p .mkv AirPlay Mirroring with ATV 3?

Has anyone with Mountain Lion final and an Apple TV 3 tested the playback of .mkv files in VLC or similar media player with AirPlay mirroring? I'd be very interested to see the performance of this. I read that results were not so great with some of the developer previews.

This won't answer your question but it is airplay related. I am trying to mirror the olympics from my mba to atv3 and it is a slideshow. The audio works fine but the video is far from smooth.

Update: oddly enough it performs better over wifi than ethernet for me.

This won't me ML related but watching a 1080p video on the iPhone 4s over ATV3 works just fine for me, so the Mac should be more than enough? (If a core ix).

Watching a video with Mirroring is going to be a slideshow.

Don't confuse AirPlay Mirroring with straight AirPlay.
