This only happens to me when gaming in fullscreen. I use a macbook pro 15" late 2011. If i launch a game and set the resolution to 1080p (on my external screen connected with a mini DP to HDMI adapter (that I previously used without a problem on a unibody 2008 MacBook that I borrowed) then everything appears blurred. In the worst cases - the wineskin port of Star Trek Online everything on the screen looks like it's vibrating or sort of vertically oscillating. In Civ V, D3, SC2 and COD4 the game only appears blurred (D3 in particular looks a lot less blurred set to 1600*900). Does anybody have any ideas what is happening and how I can fix it? Just for info this happens whether I'm running dual display using the internal as well or not. However the desktop or any normal apps (that don't take over the screen) including adobe creative suite work fine.

Any advice that you can give on this subject would be extremely welcome.
Chris

it's a 1920*1080p monitor an iiyama ProLite E2209HDS, I've used it with 2 different MacBooks (same adaptor) and my windows pc, none have had an issue with 1080p other than this 2011 MBP

Maybe try a different HDMI adapter. I had one once that would nominally provide 1080p on a certain connected TV, but the picture quality looked substantially worse than using a Mini-DP to VGA adapter on the same setup.
