Have to manually open Mail app to download new emails anyone else?

Am using Google accounts. Personal gmail and also Google Apps email (Exchange).

Emails no longer coming in since 11.1

Multiple devices too. Two iPhones and an iPad same behaviour.

Do you have “Push” or “Fetch” turned on?

Push ON for my Exchange Account, Fetch on 15min schedule for Gmail. Emails seem to be coming through now. Perhaps the phone was indexing still after the update which was causing Mail to lag who knows. Will monitor though thanks all...

Since iOS 11, Apple has disabled scheduled fetch and notifications for favorited folders and sub folders for non-push IMAP mail accounts in the native mail app of iOS.
This fetch used to happen in iOS 10.3.3 without any problem.

According to whom, please?

This is simply not true. I have no issues on any of my devices.

For your information, Apple themselves have confirmed this on one of my bug reports.
They have further stated that the mail accounts that do not support Push, will no longer have scheduled fetch and notifications for folders other than Inbox (even if they have been made as favorites) when using the native mail app.
The scheduled fetch and notifications still work for any folder other than Inbox if the mail account is supporting Push. Hence, this feature still works for iCloud mail account, but will not work for other mail accounts like the free yahoo mail account (which does not support Push but works only on fetch) using the native mail app.

I use iCloud and 3 different gmail accounts. Every single gmail account behaves has it did on iOS 10, iOS 9 and earlier. Fetch works exactly how it has for my device. Every 15 minutes on the dot. This goes for all my folders that I have favorited and my inboxes.

Additionally, Apple bug report responses typically don’t have that much detail. So I’m sorry, I don’t believe it. I have multiple devices in front of me that work exactly how iOS 10 and prior worked.

Can you setup your device as new and then add the IMAP mail accounts of Yahoo or Gmail with some folders as favorites and scheduled fetch. Can you elaborate on what your observed behaviour is then?

As far as the reply from Apple is concerned, I can post screenshot of the bugreport reply.
I also have received a mail from Craig confirming the same.
Dont you think I will violate confidentiality if I post a screenshot of that mail

Are you seriously asking me to restore my device and set it up as new? Absolutely not.

Then you have to believe me and test it on some other device.
Excuse me? Why would I possibly have to restore my device as new to believe you, when I have 3 iOS 11 devices and they work exactly how they ddi in iOS 10. That makes zero sense whatsoever.

FYI the email issue was temporary. Emails both on Push and Fetch schedule with multiple accounts now working normally...

You dont want to believe me just because you dont want to reproduce the behaviour in the manner I suggest. Still you state that what I say is false.
That's not fair.
I suggest you can add another new yahoo or gmail account and then try to reproduce the behaviour.
Please note that there is no VIP recipient/ addressee in any of the received mails. And I dont open the mail account favorited folders to make them refresh themselves.
Even if I open and close any favorited folder on native mail app to force it to refresh itself and seek mails from the server, none of the mails downloaded subsequently generate any notification either as a banner or in Notification Centre.
Can you provide some configuration details that you have adopted which is making your mail accounts to generate scheduled fetch and notifications for mails downloaded in favorited folders in native mail app (no VIPs configured) on non Push mail accounts.
If you suggest, I can post a video of the erratic behaviour in the manner you suggest. But whether that will lead to a conclusion, is first to be agreed upon before it is uploaded.
Otherwise you can also suggest what details do I provide for your analysis and suggestions.
I guess that if you have just updated iOS 11 over iOS 10.3.3 without setting up as new, it might be retaining the behaviour of the old version (illogical, but otherwise not explainable).

Whether you get notifications for Fetched mail accounts also (like Yahoo, Gmail and corporate mail accounts) on folders configured as favorites other than main Inbox.

Have you by accident enabled low power mode?
No.
Low Power mode is not enabled.

Please see the attached response on bugreport from apple, which states that the mechanism of scheduled fetch and notifications on favorited folders has been discontinued since iOS 11.
This should settle the debate on whether I am the only one facing the issue of no scheduled fetch and notifications on favorited folders on non-push IMAP mail accounts in native mail app.
