I’m guessing Apple won’t release iOS 11.1 till next week. Sure wish they would hurry up as I’ve never till this point been so close to leaving a brand following so many software and hardware messups. Not making this a rant post, just noting that as we moved further into the Tim Cook Apple the more software messups have occurred and the longer it has taken to resolve. Nevermind things such as new iPhone 8 plus phones and watches coming scratched out of the box.

It just feels as though things are being pushed before their time and rushed which I’ve never found yields positive outcomes.

Wife’s keyboard disappears during texting. My phone frequently reboots or becomes unresponsive and we both had 7 pluses and not 8 pluses. So I feel like it’s not a matter of using old hardware.

And I’ve owned an iPhone since the Origional. I don’t recal 3-5 being that bad, but maybe my memory is fuzzy.

You clearly don't remember 7 either. Reset all settings on your device or restore it as new. My Air 2 is over 2 years old and its almost perfect.

So wait, you want it to be released already, but you feel things are being rushed and pushed before their time? o_O

11.1 sounds like a good version. I’m just not keen on installing the betas.

People don't feel things are bad until they run into some issues. Different people run into different issues pretty much with every (major) update. Plenty of people found earlier versions bad in all kinds of ways too.

Gee a thread on how bad IOS has become. I wish MacRumors would have a separate area for all these 3,000 threads on how bad an IOS is and how bad Apple has become so that people who are looking for real answers and real questions don't have to wade through pages of how bad things are - I know I don't have to read them but seriously folks how many of the same threads do we need

I have a 7 plus and I'm not experiencing a disappearing keyboard, unresponsiveness, or random reboots. I'm not saying that these problems aren't there just saying that it's not happening to everyone. So these issues maybe harder to track down on the cause. Like have you ever dropped, got it wet, use a 3rd party charger, have a power surge while charging, have a 3rd party repair your phone with non Apple components? Lots of things to factor in, heck if you had your phone repaired you may not even know that it was repaired using non Apple components.

They won’t release it prior to the iPhone X preorders because of this reason...

Wasn’t iOS 10 bricking people’s phone until they pulled it and re-released it A few hours later.

They wouldn’t want to chance that happening when they are encouraging people to use the iOS Apple store app to order things

It’ll come out either 30,31st

I can't speak to what too many OS versions were like as I jumped in at the 4s. If memory serves me, Apple shifted to Annual release cycle instead of a lengthier period before that, right? Annual release is tough to do for virtually any software company that I've experience with anyway unless you're talking about minor updates from year to year. Not too many would be happy with that. At least they created the public beta program, so I think it's certainly steps in the right direction.

I'm one who sits out until at least .1 or later releases of just about any software, I don't like being an early adopter but when you upgrade hardware you don't have a choice anymore. Just like any other version before it, I'll roll with 11. Each release seems to be making improvements, so I'll give the team and testers kudos for that hard work.

OP--did you purchase 7+'s just recently as in when the 8's and iOS 11 were released or have you had them prior?

iOS3 and 4 and 5 were all messy and far more broken under Jobs. These releases are far far smoother.
I don’t agree with 4 and 5. I would say that 2 and 3 were quite rough but...come on. They were running on such new and underpowered hardware. They were a miracle.

I find 11.0.3 the best of out the ****** ios 11. I'm afraid 11.1 might be a step back. Apple hasn't been on top of their game with updates these days. I'm gonna wait and see before I update.

So the most recent public update you find to be the best of the updates that have been released, but the next update would suddenly be worse? That doesn't really follow.

And every one of those threads are mostly filled with people complaining about the threads themselves, people rationalizing how things aren't nearly as bad as previous versions (as if that should somehow make the current sloppiness more palatable) and people thinking of jumping ship.

Welcome to the MacRumors forums.

11.1 release it already

Hmmm..... :D

Do you really believe that?

To an extent I agree with him.

iOS 4.2.x had 6 or so releases (4.2.2, 4.2.3, 4.2.4 etc) for bug and security fixes specifically on the CDMA models. I wasn't negatively affected but updating constantly in such a short period of time became obnoxious.

Also we need to keep in mind there are A LOT more features in iOS now so there is a lot more room for bugs.

At least 10 more by Sunday night. /s

The forum have turned in to hormone treatment program. Too depressing half the time to even read half the threads.

11.1 still isn’t ready either. Having keyboard not showing up (which is kind of major) and other random bugs still on beta 5. But yeah go on and release it already. We don’t want finished software.
