Never has this before after an update. Geekbench 4 is way off.

How does your phone operate? That's the question, synthetic benthmarks really don't show much.

phone feels a bit warm. I understand what you say about benchmarks but its considerably down on what it should be.

How long time ago did you update the phone? Mine was hot while installing and some time after, apparently it rebuilt "memories" in the photos app to, since i got alot of messages about new memories, so maybe something temporary hogging your CPU?

Yup, I know all these issues raised with regards to indexing, however I run a benchmark after every update and never noticed a severe drop in benchmark.

Do not run geekbench immediately after updating. The CPU is doing a lot of stuff in the background which affects results. Leave the phone alone for 2 hours, then restart and execute the benchmark.

its going on charge now so will leave it for a few hours.

I thought the phone indexes a lot of crap behind the scenes after updates

Behind the scenes. That is the problem. No notifications or indicator or progress bar that indexing files/pictures is going on and might slow things down.

Phone been off and charging for a few hours and now back on. Ran Geekbench again and all back to normal. Thanks for all the help. Guess it was background stuff.

Updated to Beta 6 (GM) yesterday so it had time to index and everything. I just ran Geekbench and the numbers actually improved over a previous result.
