Just did a reboot on my AW U2 and immediately noticed that it takes much MUCH longer than before.
With watchOS 11.0 it took about ~45 seconds to boot the U2, now it takes 2 minutes flat.

Checked my partner's S6: 2min 20seconds.
Seems to be a wonderful new 11.4 bug as I don't see any obvious reason why it suddenly should take more than twice as long to boot the device.

Same on my Apple Watch Series 10. It felt like it took longer than two minutes, I actually thought it was stuck rebooting first time I restarted it after the update. Also my Siri settings got messed up after the update, it turned on "Hey Siri" and changed the voice type.

How often do you reboot your watch?
Was your test right after the update?
Re-test in a few days, updates take time to “settle”

I tested it just now, and it was only 36 seconds this time. Really strange. I hope this was just a one-time hiccup. I reboot all my Apple devices right after an update, and this reboot was normal on the AW, but the second or third one some time later took as long as described. I normally don’t reboot my devices that often, but I wanted to confirm that the bug with the charging notification is still there.

It was a quite sizeable update, 1.1GB on my U2, so I am not surprised

a) as often as necessary
b) no. more than 24h later
c) can we stop with that "but it's still indexing" nonsense? it doesn't actually take hours, let alone a day

How do you KNOW it’s “nonsense”?
How do you know what the update is doing?
I've been using Apple products for long enough. The "special tasks" after an update run as low priority background tasks and are usually done within 30 minutes on my devices and on macOS I see them running in my system monitor app.

This does not explain how startup time can go up from 45 to 120 seconds.

Well as someone else said it was likely a once off and big updates may take a couple hours to settle, or being "connected to charge" for a bit to finish intensive tasks. I know the watch will only do certain tasks after settling on the charger for a while

testing - first reboot after update (I updated days ago, nothing is "settling" 😄 ) 2:02
second reboot immediately after - 2:00

this is AW10. yeah I agree something's off. luckily I never restart my watch so this won't bother me.

2:14 on my S7. Crazy. Thanks for sharing! Would have been confused tomorrow when I would have restarted it. I usually like to restart my devices after some time on a new version, just for the placebo effect alone.

I’ve charged my watch at least 3 times since updating and it still took over 2 minutes. Yes things take time, but these things apparently took a reboot.

Thank God that i have found this thread! i was for the first time '' scared'' that my ultra 2 was stuck during the booting process....2 minutes something for the 11.4 and during the previous 11.3 was literally 45 sec max....this is indeed an annoying welcome issue...i hope other won't follow but at least it's not mine only...thanks for sharing guys, appreciated

I just updated to 11.4 today. I decided to check how long a reboot took on my S8. 3 minutes 20 seconds. That’s a restart so it includes the shutdown time.

I don’t know how long it took before. I reboot so infrequently (software updates) that I don’t pay attention. I just do the update and ignore the watch for a while.

I would also like to report that for the first time I have massive battery drain :( 10% over night without doing anything and charging before going to bed and unplugged, always had still 100% and now 90… what should I do ? Why they messed up so much this update ?
