Hello - I've been trying to update my MBP to Big Sur 11.5 and each time it states the download failed. I've been trying for the past 2 days and each time I get the below error. I'm currently on Big Sur 11.4 and this is the first time ever I've had this issue with updating...

Any suggestions?

I've been having this issue a lot with Big Sur. Most of the time I have to run the following command to install the update:
Code:
softwareupdate -i -a

With the 11.5 update I actually had to run that command and then go back to System Preferences -> Software Update and the option changed from "Update Now" to "Restart". Upon restarting the update installed. I only mention this because with past updates running the above command was enough to tell macOS to start the update on reboot.

That worked perfectly! Thank you so much.

The problem for me was a lack of space. Had exactly the same “check your connection” BS error. Wasted ages before finding out that I unexpectedly only had about 10GB free.
