My 11.6 64GB 4GB finally arrived today, a day early...which surprised me as it left Alaska last night to arrive at my door in CT today. Just as it came I had to run out to pick up my daughters from school, take to soccer practice and pick up my wife from the train, so I did the only logical thing I could think of, I took it with me. I unboxed it in my car at my daughter's soccer practice and it actually picked up a wireless network with great signal. My immediate impression was that it was actually not as small as I thought it would be. I had used an Acer netbook with windows before so I was not put off by the form factor. It is super light and the display is amazingly crisp. I immediately downloaded Firefox and Adium and installed flash.
I am planning on this laptop being my main computer. I am an aspiring writer so I will not be doing any sort of heavy computing, no video editing, no crazy gaming etc. For my purposes I will mostly be using a browser, iTunes and I will probably put Office 2011 on as well. With just the few things I installed I have 46GB free space. I have a terabyte network storage drive at home so just have all my files mapped there anyway as it is mirrored storage. I also have my iTunes music library on there as well.
I truly believe that this will be the perfect machine for my needs. It is so easy to transport around...no issues using it in my car at all. I know there has been a lot of debate here about what is the best configuration and so on and when I ordered this one I went back and forth so many times and I eventually came to the conclusion that for what I would be mostly using it for I did not need to get out of hand with the upgrades. I did go with the 4GB of memory, and I am glad I did and I also got the USB ethernet adapter.
My advice to those of you still trying to figure out if this is the right machine for you or not is to ask yourself what you will mostly be using it for. So far I am very impressed at how snappy it is, granted I have only had it for a few hours, but it is everything I was hoping for.
