I just jailbroke my phone and tried to sync it up, but now there is nearly 11 gigs of "other" on my phone. What is this and how do I get rid of it?

I think you should put the phone into DFU mode, restore to Apple firmware, then trying Jailbreaking again.
It looks like the Jailbreak has increased the firmware partition of the phone. Did you use Pwnage and increase it from 500MB to 11GB?

this has happened a few times to me while i was jailbroken.
a restore and rejailbreak solves the issue.
