I was really hurting my head trying to decide what iPad size to get. 12.9” sounded massive, but I loved the bigger real estate for multi tasking.

11” almost seemed too small, especially to use as your main computer.

Well I went with my gut. And the 11” arrived this week. IT. IS. PERFECT.

Could they release a 12-incher or so in a similar form factor by reducing the bezels? Sure. That would be great.

But man. It doesn’t matter. Using it to consume media by itself is a perfect. Using it with the Magic Keyboard for some writing and emailing.

If you were struggling on which size to get - I definitely recommend the 11” ... mobility is king!

I have a 2nd gen and 2018 IPPs both 12.9 and I decided to go with the 11” this time. I must say that for media consumption it is a blast to use. Since I picked up the 11 I no longer use my 12s due to its larger size and weight. The 11 is a sweet spot unless you use your iPad as a laptop replacement.

Well, you just forgot to say that the 11” is “perfect” for yourself... Not for anyone, of course.

I had the 2018 11" and sold it a few months ago because I had a spare 6th gen, and it was overkill for me to have a pro with an iMac that I was thinking I was gonna have to keep for a while.

FF to this week - I am gonna be able to go back iPad only. I was really beating myself up over the size. I had the 1st two generation 12.9s and never used them away from a desk/table because they were just too big and heavy. I know they are a lot smaller now, but I still feel like it would be too big to have comfortably in my lap. I know for the desktop replacement it would be nice, but for an overall iPad I can use at the desk and also comfortably in my lap, the 11 is definitely the winner for me.

As of myself, after having owned a 10.5" for almost 3 years, went to 11" which immediately gave me the impression of being even smaller than the previous model. So, also considering the fact that I decided to replace my laptop with the iPad (I also own an iMac) I returned the 11" and bought the 12.9" 2020. I'm extremely satisfied with the choice both because the bigger model is ideal to be used as a laptop along the new AMK (also considering the new features offered by the OS as the mouse support etc. for which the smaller model is in my opinion a bit cramped) and also because the 12.9" especially without case is a joy for relaxing in portrait mode both on the couch and in bed.

I have the 11 and it's very nice. Had the previous Pro lineup. The big cpu boost, and the new design is nice. Love the Apple case (except the cost, but I got a discount). Yet to buy the new pencil

Just bragging :D

I want a discount on the case. ;-p

I guess I actually sort of got a discount. No tax/free shipping. In my area, tax alone would have been $30.

I have an 11" and I love it but agree the 12.9 is a great fit for many people. Different people have different use cases and preferences!

No doubt the 12.9 is an incredible device. I just think for a lot of people it's a bit too cumbersome for comfort when relaxing on the couch or in bed, and also a bit much for holding like a tablet and taking notes, drawing, etc. Certainly there are exceptions, and people who find it perfect in those situations, but I think for a single size that's truly versatile, the 11" wins.

Yes, it is just a matter of personal preferences. A poll in this forum shows that half (51.2%) of the users consider the 12.9” a winner while the other half (48.8%) prefer the 11”.

Definitely preference! iPP 11 here now, and there’s no way I could have tolerated the 12.9 in terms of carting it about.

My 10.5 iPP and 10.5 Air went everywhere with me, and this iPP 11 will as well once we’re allowed back into the real world again, however that might work!

51.2 -v- 48.8 though, close to our UK national act of self harm in 2016 ;-)

I love my 11" iPad pro.

I was seriously considering 12.9 but I'm so glad I didn't go for it. I don't ever feel like I made the wrong decision with the size. It's perfect for me.

I have the 11 inch and it is almost to "big" for just sitting around and reading twitter, interwebs and such. I find myself reaching for my Sammy Tab S6 because it is 50 grams lighter and the sides are more comfortable to hold.

I read the "it's the size of piece of paper" comparisons and bought the 12.9 sight unseen. I just could not get used to the size and returned it. I've never regretted swapping it for an 11.

If only the screen didn’t suck. Maybe next one.

I think the screen is really nice.

I mean sure it hasn't got an OLED screen like Samsung tablets but I don't ever find that a problem. I've had the iPad for over a year now and to me it still feels and looks fresh.

what do you find poor about the screen? It’s bright, excellent colors, fantastic contrast for an LCD, evenly lit, good tones, a huge step up from the non pro screens. OLED is not likely to happen, seems they’ll jump to micro LED, but they did a fantastic job with the pro. The screen feels one with the glass, which makes things like magazine reading and art so connected to the touch interface.

I love this about the screen. With other tablets it never feels like you are interacting with anything on the screen but I have never thought that about the iPad.

I had the 9.7“ Pro, the 10.5” Pro, and the 2018 11” Pro. I now have the 2020 12.9” Pro. The better the iPad Pro gets, the more of my Mac things it takes over. It has now all but eliminated the need for a Mac in my workflow at all. Considering how much use it was getting, the 11” was starting to feel very constrained for my multitasking and video/audio/photo editing needs.
