My take on it is that if you were willing to pay the price for the MBA in the first place, spending slightly more for a sleeve shouldn't be a huge problem. I agree that some are priced a little too high, but you can get some really nice ones for around $30. I got my Moshi Muse for $35 with free shipping.

And because they have they have the mullah, they will pay another 100 bucks for an expensive sleeve, simply because they have the money to waste, and they want something that will set them apart. 1. If u want a sleeve/case for your MacBook air, then shell out whatever money you feel necessary to get one, don't b!tch about it on the Internet, and when u spill your coffee on it or drop it, the value of your case will be apparent.

Yeah, I understand what you’re saying, but donating money to the poor doesn’t really solve the problem. We need a different system that alleviates poverty and erases it off the planet. It can be done.

As for people wasting money on expensive products, that’s just the nature of the capitalist society. Everyone is producing products to make money—pure and simple. It’s not about how good the product is necessarily but how much people are willing to pay.

Many of the high price cases are probably not selling like hotcakes, but if you can make a case for say $10 overhead and then sell it for a hundred dollars, well then you can what the deal is.

As for me, I really like the Waterfied case and the Tom Bihn Ristretto bag for the Air, but both are just a little out of my price range. While I could save and get them, I think about other things I could be doing with the money. And also think about do I really need them. It’s not like I‘d be showing them off or anything. They’re no more practical than the cheaper bags.

I'm not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination, but I bought Apple products because of its sheer simplicity and conformity, from the engineering and design of the hardware to the stability and consistency of its software.

However, you have to realize that many accessory products are rebranded from manufacturers in Asia, and once it gets rebranded a couple of times, the prices tend to jump significantly.

Moshi's ClearGuard for the MacBook Air costs $25. Similar products can be purchased for as little as $4. I would gather that these fabric sleeves can be picked up for 1/3-1/4 of the retail price that US shops are selling it for.
