11" MBA running Aperture 3

I am looking into buying an 11" MBA so that I can post-process on the go. I was wondering if anybody has had experience with the 11" MBA running Aperture 3? Does anybody have any suggestions on which type of 11" MBA configuration I would need to get to properly run Aperture 3? I currently use an iMac for Aperture 3 so I have never had system slow-down and such and would definitely not want to purchase an MBA if this is going to be the case. Although I am sure the MBP would be better suited for Aperture 3, I would like to go with the 11" MBA if it will work well due to its portability.

I run Aperture 3 on my 11” Air, but I have to be honest and say that the screen is a little too small to really get a lot of work done. It’s okay when you’re traveling and need a mobile solution, but if you’re accustomed to working with Aperture on a larger monitor (or dual monitors in my case), you may feel frustrated with it on the smaller 11” screen.

You might want to test it out on the 13”. To be honest, I’m not sure I’d want to do any bulk processing on any laptop unless a client was compensating me for doing the work locally instead of waiting for it to be done faster on my Mac Pro and dual screen.

So yeah, Aperture 3 runs okay on the Air, but it might not be pleasant working it in, especially if you process hundreds of photos at a time.

I will ony process a handful of photos at a time. May I ask what the specs are of your MBA so that I know which one to get?

I use my Macbook Air (Maxed out) and its a bit slow for editing at times. There can sometimes be a slight delay when changing settings, and it takes longer to process photos than I would like. But its not too too terrible.

I have a bottomline 11” Air, and I have experienced similar problems as stated above. I would say if you’re not doing too much post-processing on the Air, then you should be okay. I primarily use the Air for writing, web serving, and editing larger projects like Keynote projects. When I work in Aperture and in Photoshop on the machine, I use an external mouse, as well as the trackpad, which seems to navigate the apps faster.
