hello to you all. Some time ago I posted on my iPhone 11 dropping cellular connection. iOS 18 smoothed the ugly process but still I miss calls or calls drop in middle of conversation and Internet is dead at times. I browsed refurbished Apple iPhones and found these: 13 pro max and 14 plus. Prices are CDN and Apple products in Canada are very expensive compared to US. So 13 is 979$. 14, 849$. I prefer Apple refurbished because of the new battery and body and the warranty. But…If I become bold and buy new, there’s the 15 plus at 1149$, the 16 pro at 1449$ and of course the 16e at 899$ (you're reading well). Btw. No gaming, no FB, Tik-Tok no social either. AI is not a determinant factor. Photos ? Never could get passed the idea iPhonography replaced Point & Shoot. Have DSLR and lens though. But I take many pictures wit my iPhone. Don’t do much with my phone but want it to be as flawless as it can. Since I'm 70, probably will be my last iPhone. Just bought a nice AW 9. So all in with Apple.
Thanks so much for sharing information.

Sounds like the 16e would be perfect for you.

It's the second cheapest phone you've listed, and you should get a solid 5 years worth of use out of it.

How is your eyesight? Would a larger screen be of benefit?
If the answer is yes, consider the plus sized models...
Between the 2 plus sized models you've listed, the 14 (in my opinion) is better value, unless you prefer to use a USB C cable to charge your phone (the 14 series uses the older lightning cable), and/or prefer the "dynamic island" (the 14 series uses a notch).

Also, consider purchasing phones on Amazon. Just found a silver 16 plus listed for CAD $1180 (amazon renewed).
You should also be able to buy a 15 plus for under CAD $1000.

FYI: 70 isn't old. Take care of your health and you have many more years ahead of you.

I would recommend any 15 or 16. You seem to keep devices for a long time and the 13 is not much newer than your 11 at this point. The iPhone 14 and 13 are nearly identical and close to $1000 for a 2021 phone is too much in my opinion. Especially when the 16e is available.

70? you're just a kid. I'm 84 and looking to get a new MB Air.

I am a big fan of the 16e which I have been using for the last few months. I had to purchase an iPhone to replace my broken iPhone 12 Pro Max. I have to tell ya I don't miss my 12 PM and I don't really care about the missing features as it relates to the more expensive 16 models.

The battery life is phenomenal. The phone is very quick and responsive and after a few weeks you realize that a lot of what the more expensive phones have to offer are more gimmicky or features that you might use occasionally, but not everyday.

The iPhone 16e has all the core features that you will need. I really expect that it will hold its value better than many people think, especially if the economy goes into a downturn or recession.

Right. There’s this npr life kit podcast about exercising into your older age with consistency a 85 can play sports still.

I pinned this squarely on Apple with its ****** Intel modem they plonked onto the iP11...

My 11 has been doing that with various operators so much that I smashed it onto the floor on several occasions... Other than screen bleed, damn phone refuse to die... The worse iPhone I've ever owned...

Hello to you all and thanks so much for your kindness and so helpful hints and informations. I narrowed down my choice to 15 Plus and 16 Plus. I think this could be the phone I will like as much as I did the 11 which I'd keep as my main if not for the faulty modem. I saw the 16e at BB and it leaves me cold. Does nothing to me.

Ah! same here. The best and the worst iPhone at the same time. I didn't smashed mine on the floor but the intention is always there. I do not trust the Apple C1 modem either. Rather the first ben of this reworked Intel modem. Where to know what brand of modem have the 15 Plus or 16 Plus? Thanks for your reply.

Thanks a lot my friend. I may be a tad younger but at 70, age truly doesn't count. 14 years gap that means nothing now for both of us, we could be friends. But a terrible gap earlier in life. Imagine a girl 18 going out with a 32 years old man. Even today her parents would question their relation...🙈

Qualcomm X70 for iP15 Plus and X71 for iP16 Plus...

Currently eyeing the 16 Plus to avoid the Apple Cx modem that Apple might churned out on the 17, and to avoid impending tariffs that might lead to price increase on iPhones in the short term...

Hi. My choice too. Will be happy with it. Regarding the 11, have you noticed the cellular signal gets very strong and stable when choosing 3G over LTE. My 11 does this but 3G speed is not an option. My provider will stop 3G in a few months anyway.
