I know it’s not out yet, so you could probably base this on the M1 iPP’s, but I’m not sure which one I want more. I had a 12.9”, but it was really heavy. Like in the Magic Keyboard it was really heavy. Too heavy in that situation, actually. I had used an Air 4 with the 11” Magic Keyboard in early 2021 and loved the form factor.

Another two things that are pushing me away from the 12.9” M2 iPP is the fact that I never really noticed in the stuff that I watched any big changes from any other iPP screen. So Mini-LED was a bust for me. Finally, if I did get a 11” iPP I would be able to afford a Magic Keyboard too and I already have a Apple Pencil 2 that I never sold.

I guess it seems I have answered my own question, but what’s he screen like on the 11” M1 iPP so I can make a informed decision tomorrow.

Thank you! :D

You answered your own question. For me, I'm going with the 12.9" purely for the real estate of writing notes, reading textbooks, etc.
As my eyes get older, I noticed reading on a 10.5" isn't that great. Plus, I like the heaviness of the 12.9" It makes me less inclined to use it to just "enjoy" the iPad versus getting work done on it.
That said, after school is done, I can see myself really liking the 11" Air way more.

The 12.9" (my personal choice) is more of a laptop replacement, meant for those that intend to do a bit more with their iPad. In my case, it is always resting somewhere. I rarely hand-hold my iPad and when I do, it is in landscape, held like a painter's palette. Its weight becomes irrelevant for me given the extra screen real estate I found to be more important. For me it replaced an MBA and became my primary computer.

The 11" is the pure, true iPad experience. It is the best hand-held device, it's light, and the form-factor thrives in portrait mode. My teenage daughter (who is a visual arts creative) prefers this size over both the mini and the 12.9".

My suggestion is that whatever is released, just give it a try. You'll have two weeks if you're not satisfied with it to return it, no questions asked.

I need the screen space, so 12.9" is my only option. I'd be really interested in a 15", that would be insanely cool.

An iPad Pro 12.9 with a magic keyboard is heavier then a MacBook Air. So if your shooting lighter weight, the 11" is your best bet

I'd be 12.9 if it wasn't for mini-LED PWM. So 11" it will be - maybe an M1 if refurb store gets instant stock.

for good PWM levels you go miniLEd and not that ancient lcd
12.9" has an 19.19 kHz PWM level at most of brightness levels
nah - I go the no PWM route. Whether it was PWM, dithering, or brightness shimmer - the 12.9" M1, as nice as the screen looked, bothered my eyes. 🤷‍♂️

Second this. I use 11” iPP (for light work) - combined with 13” MBA (for complex / heavy stuff).

12.9 here, assuming the smaller models don’t get miniLED or any other screen improvements. I can readily tell the difference, though it mainly makes itself known in HDR content.

I'm on the fence. In my 11 year stint at my former employer, I had the OG 12.9 inch iPad pro and an 11 inch version. I loved the large display of the 12.9 but hated the size and akwardness.

I've now not had an iPad in many years and am about to buy my first. Can't decide!

I'm planning on getting a 256 GB 11" Cellular iPad Pro. I find the 12.9" iPad Pro quite similar in size (especially since I plan to get the Magic Keyboard) to my 13" MacBook Air, so I find it redundant to carry around two devices of the same size.

Looks like neither for me, no idea what Apple was thinking with this update. iPad Pro doesn't get the landscape camera...that is the one thing that would have sold me.

And I would have been fine with the base iPad for my uses, and it gets a better keyboard design (Detachable while still having a kickstand) but first generation apple pencil with no built in way to charge. What???

I want literally no iPad in this currently lineup, they are all compromised in some way.

I had the OG 12.9" and that thing was really huge with large bezels. I moved to the 9.7" Pro when it came out, and then the 11" Pro in 2018. Been rocking that since 2018 launch but I've really missed the larger drawing/textbook/comic size of the 12.9". Since the bezels are smaller now (than the OG 12.9 beast), it's at least a smaller footprint, so I'm planning to size back up with the M2 12.9".

I will still keep my 11" 2018 Pro most likely for traveling and/or side reference when drawing -- we'll see how much I use it. Ultimately I might end up with the 12.9" M2 and eventually a Mini down the road for travel.

iPad only doesn’t work for me, I need to carry my 16” MBP in addition, so 11” it is for size/weight reasons.

I briefly had a second gen 12.9 and those things really were massive.

Right now I do the 12.9/Mini combo and it mostly works - there are times I consider getting rid of the Mini for an Air or something, though.
