Fortunately enough to have both the 11“ 2018 & 12.9” 2020.

Appreciate the reason for having different keyboard layouts when keyboard is full sized. What i’ve found extremely annoying is the difference in layout for the reduced sized keyboard, which are the same size on both devices.

Don’t really have a question here, just venting. Seems like a strange choice by Apple and I don’t really understand the thinking behind it.

Why does Apple think this is a good idea?

That's a strange oversight… especially for Apple.
Are they both on the same iPad OS point release?
Both on 13.4.

I love having this ability to reduce the size of the keyboard and use swipe to text on iPad. It really is perfect for one handed text input on the bigger devices. It was even what pushed me to get the 12.9” this time round, the lack of spilt keyboard on the 12.9” was a deal breaker for me the way I use the iPad.

I hold down the number/special character button to quick type and muscle memory just makes these small differences annoying!

I think that’s rather an error than a conscious decision.
I hope so!

Is anyone able to confirm who has had both a smaller model and 12.9” for a longer period of time if this has always been the case, since the smaller keyboard layout has been available on the 12.9”? I think this 1st became available with iPadOS.
