heya,

I wanted to do a clean-install of Lion.

I took the 11A480E image file, and restored it onto a USB stick.

It boots up fine - shows the grey screen with the loading dots, then goes to another grey screen with a grey circle with a line through it. E.g.:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1892?viewlocale=en_US

I was under the impression this build of Lion fixed the installer bootup issues on 2011 MBP's? Looking forward to getting it from the app-store when it goes GM...lol, hoping this issue gets nixed before then...

This is on a MBP 2011 13", purchased in Australia.

Cheers,
Victor

I've had issue on earlier build, but the latest one installed just fine. What I did:
  1. From Snow Leopard, Time Machine backup.
  2. Made 10.7 installation DVD (USB should work fine too).
  3. Instead of installing from Snow Leopard, I booted into DVD (holding C button upon restart)
  4. Disk Utility and wiped the hard disk
  5. Installed 10.7 with error console view (accessed from Window menu) to monitor the progress
  6. Booted into Lion, with corrupted screen and all
  7. Software Update to pickup yesterday's DP4 update
  8. Restore from Time Machine backup (I only restored Users directories)

Works on mine. I used Disk Util to make a second partition, then from the SL desktop, I simply ran Lion installer and pointed it at that other partition. Boom.

heya,

Interesting.

I wasn't running the installer from SL.

Instead, I used Disk Utility to copy the image onto a USB, then booted directly from the USB.

@nutmac: You say you managed to boot straight from the 11A480E DVD and it booted into the installer fine? Strange. I might try making a DVD and seeing if that helps.

Cheers,
Victor
