11pro Black vertical lines in photos

When taking photos of bright object. Like the setting sun. 2 black vertical lines will appear around bright object.
If you make a video pan. The lines will follow the bright object. But cannot upload video here but did make a photo clearly showing it too.
seem like some software thing.
any thoughts on this ?

could someone please try to replicate?
take a picture of the sun.

I am concerned if my phone I faulty or this is a iOS bug ?

So I have been conducting further tests.
All lenses are affected, even facecam.
Very strange. It kind of points to software right ?
Am I really the only one affected by this?

when I return from holiday I will go to the shop where I bought it. But it seems unlikely a swap to a new will remedy the problem if it’s software?

I wish someone would try to replicate this error

Just returned from holiday and now had the chance to test a friends 11pro. And lo and behold it has the exact same
Problem.

why isn’t more people reporting this issue?
If you own a 11 or 11pro running 13.3 please record a short video of the sun.
point at the sun and pan up and and down and left and right and you should observe similar artifacts as seen in my videoclip here:Streamable videoclip

Tomorow I will go consult the phone store where I bought it. But since this seems like a software problem and potentially a large number of iPhones affected. A switch to a new one probably will not help.
I will also submit iPhone feedback.

I believe many suffer from this issue without realizing. My friend was very surprised when I showed him that his phone had this problem.
Yesterday I saw a guy post a sunset picture from a XR on Reddit which clearly suffered from the issue without him realizing.

I am quite surprised that I seem to be the only one on the internet who caught this.

Talked to Apple Denmark who had a couple of days to look at the picture samples. Got a call back and it honestly seemed as if the guy had been told by his superiors to deny everything. He told me this was to be expected. I am shocked by apples lack of support. How did this pass quality control? Why do people think this is ok behavior from such an expensive phone ? My 6s took better pictures of the sunset than my11pro.
A 1000$ 2019 phone that acts erratic when taking pictures of bright objects?
And why is this thread so quiet?
Why isn’t anyone testing their phones for this bug ?
I briefly tested my co workers 11pro which seemed to suffer from this bug too.
Bottom line. I am not going to accept this. If they can’t supply a phone without grave problems like this. I want my money back.

I called also to Apple and they were so bad to answer. Is a waste of time !! Thats so bad to be expensive!!! ; I dont have apple store in my country that is worse ! I am thinking sell it also.

I stumbled upon a post on Reddit featuring a picture taken with an iPhone XR which shows the same artifacts. So this is not an iPhone 11 only bug.

Look at the black shadows under the clouds. Kind of looks like rain. They were not actually there. Clean blue under the clouds in reality

I did already. Same result as everyone else.
it has no influence on the yellow tint.

In my case I dont see any shadow, but I have the horrible yellowish tint , I cant edit my photos not seeing true colores. Iam about to sell it.

It is possible to take sunset photos that isn’t affected. The sun has to be very bright to tricker the bug.
The easiest way to be sure is to record a video of the sun and move the phone to the left and right and up and down.
I am 99.9% sure all 11 phones are affects and perhaps even as far back as XR.

Those shadows most likely were there; notice the angle of the shadows, they're pointing at the sun which suggests you're seeing the shadows cast by the clouds. Maybe you didn't notice them in person when you took the photos.

Could this issue be caused by HDR?

HDR reduces the exposure in brighter parts of the photo; if it reduced the exposure on the area around the sun it could look like those artifacts.

Try turning off HDR and taking more photos of the sun to see if it goes away? Taking a photo with the sun in it is challenging to any camera system.

It's already near sunset here or I'd test it myself.

I sold it already, I really didn't like many things on the phone, yellowish pics it seemed that everyone has jaundice every time I took a picture, warm dirty display , bug camera, battery get hot very fast on the 11 pro. We will see how is the iphone 12 pro
