This was my first laptop as a kid. I just graduated from grad school and have been looking tirelessly for a perfect condition 12" 1.5 powerbook. I miss it so much...this thing was my childhood, my middle school years, my high school years. I would have taken it with me to college but I gave it to a younger family member to use and it got dropped and destroyed...biggest mistake ever. Feels like when Andy gave up Woody in Toy Story.

Everything on eBay and craigslist has dents and scratches. Does anyone know of any other resource I can get one from or if anyone on here is selling one?

Any sales here will be in the Marketplace forum. I think you will have to expect the odd dent or scratch on a 13 year old product, especially considering the soft metal it is encased in and the fact that it is virtually impossible to open without stretching at the weak points around the optical drive slot and port openings.

Patience is definitely a factor if you want an aluminum PB in decent shape. I checked CL and eBay every day for months until one popped up in almost cherry condition on the 'bay. I only paid $60 and I got a very nice machine with a dim screen. One screen from a dead iBook G4 and an SSD later and I've got the machine I waited for (the same one that you're looking for, a 1.5ghz 12").

I'm currently on the hunt for a late-model 17" PB. It may take a while, but I'll get a nice one eventually.

Just keep checking and don't jump too quickly. The deals happen; they just sometimes take a while...

I have one, looks like there are some very minor scratches on the top of the lid, and the fan is a little loud, sounds like it may have something stuck init, like a piece of plastic or paper. Or it could just be that the fan is going bad.

Also, the battery only holds a charge for about an hour, so it would need to be replaced.

Other than that, it's in really good shape, I couldn't believe how new it looked when I got it a few months ago, and I just love the Keyboard, exactly the right tactile response from the keys.

I don't really want to part with it, but I have a bunch of G4's, and I'm not really getting much use out of it.

I paid $50 plus shipping, so if you'd like it, PM me and I'll send you some photos.

Oh, sorry for your little companion. What's beyond repair and what's still recyclable?
You might look for offers overseas and reuse the US-keyboard.
But to be honest, 12"PBs got expensive everywhere ... (about 80-100$ plus shipping) and the offer @DearthnVader is a real occasion ...

The screen-brightness of my 12"PB seems to fade ... I think, that will become/is it's weak spot. So a spare screen is a real life-saver...

Oh, you've managed to fit in a 12" iBookG4-screen into the 12" PowerBooks !? That's really good news!

@Davy.Shalom: the 12"iBookG4 (my choice: a 1,2MHz and with an mSATA-upgrade) is a really sturdy companion for college & rucksack and takes every bumps and bruises without any complaints. It's much more robust than the 12"PB!
And if you can't stand waiting for THE 12"PB-occasion a 15"PB with 1.5/1.6Mhz might be the "go big or go home" - substitute (heavy on the go - you'll need the power of @eyoungren ... ;) ) - but take care about both RAM-Slots are in working condition!
