I’m scared to update because of things that have happened in the past where my phone is working perfectly fine and then I update and it’s slow and buggy afterwards.

Are there any performance differences between these 2 versions or any odd bugs that aren’t found on 12.0.1?

Yes I read the 12.1 thread but there’s hardly any info in there from people with 7 plus. Also, I’m unsure if the bug list is also listing bugs from previous versions.

The bug list is just a a carry-over from previous versions basically. In terms of performance 12.1 seems to be about the same as 12.0.1 in my experience using iPhone 7 (and overall it seems like that's the general take from various 12.1 discussions). That said, we've certainly seen cases where things work differently for different people and different devices when it comes to all kinds of updates, so there isn't a good way to say what it would really be like for any particular individual case.

Just updated. Seems almost exactly 100% the same as before. I can't seem to get the stacked notifications glitch to happen, so that's not even an issue either.

12.1 is fine on my 7 Plus but then I didn't seem to get any bugs upgrading to 12, just it has been overall a good experience for me at least.

DON'T update!!!!! my 7+ was great on IOS 12, now on 12.1 the battery runs out quicker than I can charge it. Seriously, avoid!
On the other hand, it doesn't seem like that's something that is widespread or even really comes up much from others.

Could be because those phones are all 2-3 years old, which is about when any rechargeable batteries begins to see a decline.

I don't have a plus but the 12.0.1 to 12.1 update on my 7 has been just as good.

Battery shouldn't be the explanation. Bothe the 6S and the 6+ received a new battery installed by Apple earlier this year. And as said on 12.0.1 no problem whatsoever. I already tried a hard restart etc. but still battery life sucks :(

Try a factory reset then, could be a deeper software issue.
That will be my last resort this weekend if it doesn't improve soon :( Really don't have time for that kinda stuff (I have a few apps that will need re-identifcation by the issuer if I reinstall after a reset...)

My 7 Plus battery may be slightly better under 12.1. I unplug the phone at 4:00am and very rarely run out of juice before bed at 9:30 or 10. My 6s with a brand new battery is pretty solid too.

Did another hard restart today and now it seems to be back to normal. So maybe some app or update etc. was stuck and sucking it empty. Fingers crossed it is fine now.

My 7 Plus on 12.1 is great. Same for my 6 Plus. updating gave me more performance on both devices and I don't really notice a difference battery wise.

Runs great but my battery life is a mess. It will jump 2-3 points down at a time. I just installed the beta software to see if that will help.

I’ve been running iOS 12 beta in both my 7 Plus and 10.5 iPad Pro since July, and have have a few small glitches here and there, but otherwise both run smooth and fast. Significant improvement over iOS 11. In fact, the performance of my 7 Plus running iOS 12 has made me hold off one more year before upgrading to the newest iPhone.

12.1 gives a scrolling issue on all phones when you go into a text thread, and then hit INFO at the top and try to scroll though images. It will shoot you to the bottom and is a pain the butt if you use this feature alot... The issues is fixed in 12.1 beta 3 though.

In general everything has been working fine and I have less random buggy moments than I did on iOS 10 (skipped 11 so no clue l). Weird things still happen like screen effects in iMessage will not show up on my screen until I reboot the phone, but overall everything is just as fast and reliable as ever.

That's an interesting quote and all, but it doesn't really say much one way or another in relation to what's being discussed here (and if one was to say that it does, then it equally applies to anyone, and is then therefore just as moot).
