since updating to 12.3, whenever I reboot there's nothing on my desktop. The top menu bar also works on/off. If I try to launch finder it stops responding and I need to force quit it and then starts working properly. Looking at the activity monitor, the bird process uses over 200% CPU during this time. Anyone else has this?

Yes here! it went so far that I had to install an extra operating system on an external HD, boot from there and repair the internal HD of my iMac Pro. Even in Rcovermode that was the case. The mouse pointer moved but nothing could be clicked. It took 30 minutes until I could select the external HD for installation. I almost collapsed here!!

Did you get your iMac pro working ok with Monterey after this ? I'm waiting to update my iMac pro and been searching for other iMac pro user experiences with Monterey

yes, my imac pro is running again with Monterey and it is doing quite well at the moment. until now there were no more problems.
Thats great ! Thank you for the report . I'm backing everything up to 2 different drives just incase . I'm still going through EVERY possible App and plugin to check compatibility . I still have about 15 months left on AppleCare with this iMac pro too so I like it to keep working . lol
