I am an iphone noob and recently did a jailbreak. I saw when I did an itunes sync that there is a scheduled update for 12/31. What do I need to know about this and how it will effect my jailbreak?

Thanks in advance

What that means is that iTunes checks for an update on that date (12/31).this will not effect your jailbreak.

iTunes is just letting you know that it will check for a new update on 12/31/08. That does not mean that an update will be available or that you have to update your iPhone. Even when an update comes out you have the option to update it or not.

Thanks for all the replies, I guess I should have been more specific. What if I do decide to update, what will I have to know before updating.

Will I need to first restore to get rid of the jailbreak? Before installing the itunes update?

Updating iTunes does not update your phone, or vise/versa.
When yo are notified of a new update, update.
