Hi

I am currently thinking of replacing my 2015 MacBook Pro 13 by an new iPad Pro.

The use that I would have of it will be quite varied: internet browsing, reading magazine and books on the couch or bed, video consumption while on the train (YouTube, Netflix, Amazon), management of my photo library, retouching, casual gaming with or without a controller.

I plan to use the iPad everywhere: couch, desk, bed, kitchen, train.

I am aware that most of these tasks could be done with an iPad Air but I want to have fun with an iPad Pro and I want to invest in a device that I can keep for several years.

I am rather going to the 12.9 model because in general I am attracted to large screens (65 inch TV, iPhone 11 Pro Max) but in normal times I travel 2 hours a day by train (seated) and I try to to know if in use in this situation this screen size is manageable or really too large ?

Thanks for your feedback :)

If you can work on a regular 13” laptop style computer on the train then the iPad Pro is not a problem. Obviously you don’t want to hold it for that entire time, so your seat should have a similar table than what you’d use with a laptop.

It depends on if you hold it for a prolonged amount of time.

Or you can rest it on your knees to read or to navigate. Of course just for this specific purpose (public transportation), the 11” is a better choice.

If you need to use this for two hours a day, then I say get the biggest screen that will fit.

If you can regularly and comfortably use your MBP 13” on the train, the iPad Pro 12.9+magic keyboard doesn’t feel dissimilar.
