Since Monday's WWDC, I have a new 12.9 IPP sitting in my bag on the online Apple Store just waiting for me to hit the button. First confusion I had was...what is the correct camera adapter, standard w/usb2 to lightning or usb3 to lightning. I researched, found no answer so am just going to go ahead with the usb3 to lightning camera adapter (to transfer my photos from camera to IPP).
Now I read that the 12.9" charger is not adequate. The recommended charger/cable would add another $75 to an already expensive order, for me anyway. Shouldnt I be ok with the out of box charger tho if I'm not concerned with how fast I can (re)charge? I am retired, home all day, no hurry! Or does the 12.9" batter just run down with usage much faster than I am used to on my current 9.7" IPP?
My uses are mostly browsing, no movies, no gaming and occassional photo editing and planned on photo transferring from tethered camera to ipp

1. The lightning port on both gen 12.9 and 10.5 are USB 3. Everything else is USB 2

2. Based on first gen iPad Pro 12.9, it consumes more than 12w while under load, so if u use stock charger, it will very slowly drain power even when u r plugged in. However you can still charge while it's locked

For your use your 12.9 should last the whole day. If you plug in the provided charger and charge your device while sleeping, it will be fully charged and ready for another day. I would say most do this.

If you want faster, like most things, it will cost more.

There are many third-party USBC chargers (PD capability, 30 watts) usually listed for the new MacBook... they will give your IPP ample charge while using as well as faster charge back from zero.

Their cost rovers around $30 bucks.

Anker is always a good option
Anker USB Type-C with Power Delivery 30W USB Wall Charger, PowerPort Speed 1 for Nexus 5X / 6P, LG G5, Pixel C, Samsung W700, MacBook 2015 / 2016, Mate Book, HP Spectre, Moto Z and more https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y427WT7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_X6uozbJGFVEAP

Keep in mind you will need a USBC to lightning cable to charge your IPP.
