My friends 12" g4 powerbook shows a folder icon with a blinking questionmark/finder icon... and his cd rom drive is broke. he says there's even a disk stuck in there, (how do we get it out???)

he says he want's 10.2 back on his powerbook to use a program that doesn't work in 10.3... and we have install disks, but his drive is broke! how do we use the drive of a different computer?

thank you mac people.

r.

p.s. just got the old cd out... and we can put in and eject cd's, but when we put a software restore cd in and hold down c on restart, the same things happens. nothing changes.

I had the same problem with my 12"

My hard drive was giving me serious problems. I mean, it was phisically damage and I couldn't read the OS. I went to the Apple Store in Soho to the genious bar for the warranty. The guy introduced a system disc and he couldn't get it out. He said that when the hard drive or disc drive is damage any of them works properly most of the times. At the end his system CD got stuck inside.

That maybe what is going on with your computer as well. Those drives are not good. My computer is getting fixed at Apple right now.
