I'd love to see apple release a 12" MacBook Pro at the same time that the MacBook Pro's get Merom.

12 inch:

Merom Core Duo 2.0Ghz (2.16 in 15 inch, 2.33 in 17 inch)
512mb of ram
80GB Hard drive
X1600/128 (BTO 256)
Front Row/iSight

So would every one else. Probably going to be 13.3 though.

Nope, there probably isn't going to be one at all. Most rumors suggest that there will be a 13.3" macbook with enough configurations and options to engulf both the ibook and the 12" powerbook, and that there will be no laptop smaller than 15" in the MBP line.

Which, IMO, is a terrible move by apple, but them's the rumors.

I've been thinking lately about the story of the 12" PowerBook. IIRC, they decided at the last minute to make the 12" iBook a PowerBook by swapping cases. Perhaps we'll see something similar to that situation this time around. Or perhaps they'll stick to keeping the 12" iBook (or equivalent) exactly that.

Lets not start this again. Just sit tight, read the other 200 threads about MacBook rumors and hopefully we'll see what Apple is going to release in the next few months.

If they don't have a laptop cheaper than $2000 that has a video card, they're going to murder themselves.

Please look up "suicide" in the dictionary as I believe that is the term you're looking. You can't murder yourself. That being said...DO WE REALLY NEED ANOTHER "I WANT A 12"/13" MACBOOK/PRO..."WAAAAH WAAAAH" THREAD????!!!

Honestley, I think the last Rev 12" PowerBooks are fine enough machines themself. for portability and what you would actaully do on a 12" screen i dont know why you would need anything more than whats in them currently.

I dunno? A faster CPU maybe?

If you're saying that a 12" screen doesn't warrant a modern, fast CPU, as an owner of a 1Ghz 12" PB, I strongly disagree with you.

lol, right, because clearly no one would ever want decent speed in a small package. The 12" powerbook is 14 months old, and so past due to be EOL'ed it's not funny anymore.

i understand everyones concerns, and yes it would be nice to have a small little rocket in the 12" size. But everyone is always wanting more, more more. The 1.5 in the 12" is a plenty fast processor for what people mainly use the 12" model for. Thats all im saying. But craming a 2.0 dual core in the 12" size would be nice. I own both a 1.5 12" with a gig and a quarter of ram and a 15" MBP w/ a gig. It would be cool to see the 12" go as fast as my MBP but i dont think jobs is gonna do it

Well here's an example - me.

I currently have a 15" powerbook. I love it, but most of the time it sits hooked up to an external monitor. When I do carry it around, I feel that it's too big. But I want a fast processor for ripping/encoding DVDs, and I want my laptop to support dual screens without a hack. If apple ever does release a 12" MBP, I'll be first in line assuming I'm not broke.

Any new small laptop that Apple release will be faster than the current 12" PB, its inevitable. What isn't clear is if they will have a small "Pro" laptop.

Nicely put. I'm in the same position.
It would be interesting to know the sales figures on the 3 G4 PBs - I would guess that the 12" was very popular, more so than the 17". That should indicate that Apple will want to replace it with an Intel equivalent. I also think there's room for the non-pro Macbook as well - the G4 iBook and Powerbooks have been selling successfully for some time and the market hasn't changed.
