Hi,

Just wondering if anyone had upgraded a 12" Powerbook with one of these:

HITACHI TRAVELSTAR 120GB 2.5" PATA INTERNAL HARD DISK DRIVE

I've seen that the specs are OK, but I'm not sure on the height of the drive and I know the place I'm buying it from won't let me measure the height of it before I buy it. I believe the max height can be 9.5mm.

Thanks,

Mike.

I just recently upgraded the HD to my 12" and the drive that I removed was a Hitachi Travelstar 40 GB PATA drive. Unless the physical specifications are different between the two sizes, then your drive should fit. Mine is indeed 9.5mm in height.

Also, Newegg sells a 160 GB Samsung drive at a reasonable price that I can verify works without a hitch on the PB. Maybe you can check that out also.

Second that.

Thanks again for clarifying this. Today has been a busy one....

Picked up a 12" Powerbook and have now upgraded the RAM to 1.25Gb and the HDD to 120Gb.

Advice to anyone thinking about upgrading the HDD is just to do it yourself. There's some excellent guides on the web, just take your time and keep track of the screws and its an easy upgrade to do.
