I go to school at the University of Florida and I need something that is easily portable and light to take to classes for notes and looking like im busy in a really boring lecture. I'm holding out for the MacBook Pro's for sure, just not sure if I'm going to need the 15" or not. Eventually, I would like to get a G4 PowerMac for video editing and media storage, so it's not going to be a desktop replacement. I was wondering, all you PowerBook users, do you find a big difference with the weight and screen size? I know it's only about 1lb more for the 15", not sure what the difference on the MacBook Pros is going to be. What are your thoughts?

Well, we don't know if there will even be a Mac Book Pro below 15-inch, unfortunately.

Personally, for me, if I was going to be taking the machine around everyday I would want something smaller than 15-inch. However, the 15-inch is very thin, and you get that beautiful display.

What about an 13-inch widescreen iBook (er Mac Book), if one comes out in a couple months? It would be the white casing, but for notes and whatnot it would be fine.

Are you serious!!?? No smaller MacBook Pro? I hope your wrong... Oh well. This is going to be my last (first technically) computer purchase for a very long time, so I want a top of the line machine to keep up with technology. I just love the aluminum casings, plus the overall performance. I know the iBook/MacBook will be good enough for notes, I could technically use a PDA with a keyboard if I really wanted to. I guess part of it is the status of owning a Pro Mac platform. Man, I really hope your wrong... but now that I think about it, a 15" would be very nice. I'm typing on my 15.4" HP right now, and it is nice to have a nice screen, esp with the MacBook Pro's higher resolution (I'm at 1024x768 native). I would like to get a desktop for media editing though...I want to get back into DVEditing a lot more, esp because I found out that you can get check out the Canon GL-1 for free at the College of Education. I love state funded schools. One of our computer labs here is almost all G5's!!!!! Those are fun.

Why not just head over to an Apple retailer and compare a 15'' PB, to a 12'' PB. You should be able to decide from that.

I've done that before, but I wanted to hear what others had to say.
