128GB SSD Enough for Dual Booting?

Is the 128GB enough to dual boot between Lion and Windows 7? If I get a MBA it will be my first Mac so I want to have the option of running Windows (not sure if I will once I try Lion.) Right now I'm using a Thinkpad running XP with a 60GB hard drive and it's pretty much full.

From my experience with Snow Leopard, it depends on how much space you need for data. I have a relatively small iTunes and photo collection (about 20GB) , and was able to get Snow Leopard, Office 2011, along with room for a 50GB Boot Camp partition with Windows 7 Pro (including Windows XP Mode), and still had about 15GB left on my Mac partition and 12 GB on my Windows partition. XP Mode takes up a lot of room so if you don't need that, you'll save about 10GB. It only works in Boot Camp anyway (it won't work if you are using Parallels or Fusion).

I don't have the new Macbook Air here, so I don't know what the 128GB formats to. But what you'll be looking at is about 109-115GB of usable data after formatting the drive.

So 109-115 divided by 2 (let's take worst case scenario):

109/2 = 54.5GB per OS (if 50/50 divided)

Windows 7 takes up 10-15GB
OS X Lion I don't know about

So ya... it should be enough. You can allocate the partitions however you like (whether it be half and half of your hard drive, or 75/25, or however you like it).

Of course really in the end this comes down to you: Is it enough for you? It's enough for technically getting away with doing this... but it might not be enough for your programs/needs.

yup, I have never used more than 100GB of memory on my MBP

Most of the memory is taken up by my itunes.
