Hey. I am on a real budget and I really need a new computer.

I mainly use Photoshop and Logic which will run fine for me on the base line Imac I am sure.

Still I really like gaming as well as.

I was wondering what people thought the base line 128mb video card in the cheapest Imac would be like for gaming?

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks. Andy

To be fair if your on a budget i would get a pc unless your totally against windows

But i got the 24" iMac 2.4Ghz with 128mb card and its not bad i can get 200+ FPS on WoW or 60+ FPS with high settings. Not sure what it is like in Windows

Top of the line 24 inch with the Geforce 8800 is the best option for gaming and the great screen estate for your video and photoshop work. The lower card like the Ati 2400 whether its 128MB or 2GB its still a bottom of the bargain bin and the 2600 isnt much better.
The 8800 Geforce is actually a good mid range card, and in these systems there is no upgrades so go for the best GPU you can and even then its still not going to manage Crysis.

For apps like Photoshop, oddly enough, the 2600 on the midrange iMac is the best performer followed by the 8800 and the 2400.

For games, the midrange 2600 is twice as fast (on average) as the low end 2400 and the 8800 is twice as fast again as the 2600.

I can play Crysis on the 2600 (20" iMac full res) on mostly medium but some low settings getting 20+ fps.
