Wow, it looks good to me, but I don't know much about LCD monitors.

That's a great deal.

Great deal, i'd hit it up if i needed a basic monitor to hook upto a mac mini or older Powermac G3/G4...

VGA only, no DVI connection -- results will be substandard from a Mini.

I've seen a lot of LCDs running off mini's through VGA and they're pretty good...I would think only higher (like a 20" widescreen) resolutions would be affected that much...he should be fine running 1280x1024 or 1024x768 through VGA.

The specs look pretty good to me, sounds like a great deal for the price.

My only concern would be the manufacturer's coverage for burnt pixel. I went on the x2gen website website but couldnt find any details.

For example, viewsonic will replace your screen even if it only has 1 burnt pixel while KDS wont replace it unless it has 7.

Just so you know what to expect from them is something goes wrong.

Go here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Submit=ENE&N=50010035&Manufactory=10035) to see the warranty policy: "Replacement or Refund for 8 or more dead pixels only"

The only odd thing is that they have the same guidelines for every brand (samsung,viewsonic,x2gen) I guess thats more or a store policy then the manufacturer's official coverage.
This is the reference I used : http://www.hardware.fr/articles/519-9/pixels-morts-lcd.html (its in french)

I've seen mixed reviews on other X2gen monitors. I get the impression that this is another example of a product big on features but at the expense of quality. Caveat emptor I guess -- a good gamble as a second monitor?
