What would the educational discount on a 12" PB bring it down to?

And to get the discount, do I just ask and show my ID?

you can check the education apple store online to see what it comes down to, and you have to show your school ID if you buy in store

You need to go to the education store for your school. They've never asked me for ID online but they could. I believe they ask for copies of your ID and course schedule.

In the Apple store, they dont need a schedule, just an ID.

College ID, BTW. High school students don't get the discount

The education discount is 10%.
So that would bring the 12" PB down to $1399

Thanks guys. I'll probably be picking up at 12" PB later on today. MBP's are just way too far out of my price range.

I'll have my ID and my schedule just in case.

I'd get a refurbed model online for $1199 (SuperDrive). Save yourself $200 for that PowerPC model.

I got my PB, but I just have a quick question. Is it normal to feel more "action" happening than with an iBook (under the left palmrest)?

Also, when I first got it, and I set it down on a table, it rocked back and forth a little but it doesn't anymore. Is this normal?

I can't tell you if it is normal to feel MORE action on the Powerbok than an iBook, but depending on what I'm doing I feel the hard-drive working under my left palm. As long as it isn't too loud or obnoxious I wouldn't worry about it. Can you more accurately describe what you are experiencing perhaps? And what exactly are you doing at the point in time you are experiencing such activity? :)

What happened to your iBook?. Did you sell it? ...or is it still around...

Both are normal. The hard drive is directly under the left side of the palm rest on a 12" PB. As for the rocking, I've found that a lot of times I get tricked by that. My PB isn't uneven, but a lot of tables are.

Thanks, I appreciate it. So far, I'm loving the computer. Much better built than my iBook was.

And to whoever asked, the iBook is home with my mom now.
