Finished setting up my new M4 13 Pro. Here are my initial thoughts about the display plus overall experience.
1) Side by side with M2 Pro, colour is massively different, especially in greys. It's jarring but I think this is normal and will just take some time to get used to it. But blacks are amazing of course.
2) Overall brightness is absolutely more than good enough, but not as bright as I was perhaps expecting
3) Waking via the top button or touching the screen is noticeably slower on the M4. That doesn't mean to say it's slow but pressing both of them together, the old one feels more fluid and fades in nicely, whereas the M4 just kind of pops into life but slightly later than the old one. Almost to the point where you think you haven't pressed the button properly.
4) On initial setup, after signing in to most apps, like Outlook, Plex, basically anything that needed a sign in, the app would freeze and needed a hard close.
Most of these are either "the way it is" or early teething issues. Not used it long enough for a proper run down yet but it's definitely true how thin and light it is, kind of feels weird in a good way
