Thinking about replacing my MBP (which I mainly use for browsing in bed and writing) with a 13" M4 iPad Pro and Magic Keyboard.
(Not a previous model 13" iPad Pro and first-gen Magic Keyboard.)

Would love to hear from people who have this setup if it can be used comfortably while lying in bed or on a couch with the Magic Keyboard on your lap.

Specifically want to hear from the M4 owners as this model is lighter. Thanks!

I have the config you’re requesting and you can do it but it’s pretty unstable. The new MKB position where the iPad is completely vertical helps balance it if you’re laying down and either have it on your lap or resting on the bed/couch. Of course all of this depends on you and the firmness of the area it’s on but a MB is much easier to balance especially if you have the MBA.

Its better than the last gen 12.9+MKB but nothing game changing.

The 13” MKB has passed the recliner test (legs up) for me, whereas the previous gen 11” MKB did not. I have been using the new M4 in the recliner since receiving it yesterday. Very easy to type on. I think the couch will be a different story. I haven’t tried in bed, yet. I prefer spooning with a lady over the MKB.

13” M4

When typing on the sofa, positioning the iPad perpendicular to the keyboard’s base has made it more stable. If I tilt the iPad back any farther, it begins to lean as soon as I lift my hands.
