So the people with the Mid-2009 13" MacBook Pro have their Cirrus audio problems fixed(VEN_1013&DEV_4206/VEN_1013&DEV_4207). But what about us poor bastards with realtek chipsets(VEN_10EC&DEV_0885).

As the topic says, the volume is fine, but sadly the left speaker outputs no bass. Anyone have any ideas?

(A last ditch effort would be to force Mono output, but I cant find anyway to do that)

I am also experincing the same problem. The left speaker on my macbook sounds much quiter than the right hand speaker. It's anoying. Even more this is happening right after I just opened the box.....:(

What's up with the supposed quality Apple???

Any help on this regard would be gladly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

This may be a stupid question... but can't you try newer Realtek drivers?

Are you running the Leopard or Snow Leopard Boot Camp drivers?

I should have said that no version of realtek's drivers fix the problem. Bootcamp 3.0 has the same problem as 2.0. If i can remember correctly bootcamp 2 uses v2.02 of realtek's drivers, bootcamp 3 uses v2.22, and the latest version on realtek's site is 2.32.

See the problem is not the volume. The problem is no matter what version of the drivers you use, whenever sound is played from the left channel it doesnt use the third midrange speaker. The right speaker on the other hand plays fine.

What I think is needed is to have the left channel play on both speakers, but have a custom EQ setup to strip the high frequencies so it only toggles the midrange speaker.

So I wonder who's fault is it, Apple or the manufacturer of the audio chip (Realtek).

I would say apple for not setting up the driver correctly. Most computer manufactures only use 2 speakers. Apple uses a third to produce mid-range.

Actually, it would be the driver's fault. The driver isn't pumping out the correct volume on the speakers.

In fact, I never had this problem on my old Unibody MacBook
