Apple stores only have the base model and the ultimate models... The ultimate models are maxed out, meaning 2.13 with 4 gb of RAM and 256 GB HD for the 13" MBA... everything in between is a BTO.

YMMV, but all the Apple stores my area (Seattle) carried the following configs

stock 11 - w/64, 2G, 1.6
ssd upgrade only - 11 w/ 128G ssd 2G, 1.4
'loaded' - 11 w/ 128g, 4G, 1.6
stock 13, w/128, 2G, 1.86

the loaded 13 was only available at one retail apple store in my area.
13 w/ 256, 4G, 2.13

the only way to get 4G out of the stores is to get the respective 'ultimate' builds.

best

I went to an Apple Store today (Southlake, TX) hoping to get the 13" MBA, 128 with 4GB Ram. I was told NO STORE carries the mid level models with 4 GB Ram. That in order to get those, then one has to order online.

He stated they carry all the 2GB models in the store and the "ultimate" models with 4GB. Needless to say I didn't want to spend $1850 (after tax).

I'm going to Vegas this weekend and I'm going to check the Caesars store to see if the information I was given is correct.

Otherwise I guess I'll be ordering one when I get back.

I'll save you some time, the Caesar's store and the other vegas store at the "Town Square" only had 4gb on the "Ultimate" editions when I was there for a conference last week.
