If I charge my 13PM with a 30W Anker USB-C charger will it have any negative effect on the battery? I sometimes charge my phone overnight but would try to avoid doing this if there is a possibility that it would affect battery performance and/or life. Would it be better to charge with something 20W or lower? Thanks

You could use a 1000 watt “charger” with zero ill effects. The charger is actually in the iPhone. The power supply is plugged into the wall. The charger inside the phone takes only what it needs.

The charger inside the phone turns off when the battery reaches 100% and then flips back on for a trickle charge back up to 100% again when it drops to 96% or so. The battery charge indicator on the phone will always show 100% during that time (slow discharge to 96%).

Leaving a gigantic power supply connected to the phone over night is no more harmful than leaving it connected to a tiny 5 watt charger.

The 13 Pro Max is capable of charging as high as 27w. I charge my 13 Pro Max with the Anker Nano Pro 20w charging brick and their USB C to lightning cable. It has the ability to monitor temperature and charging speed and adjust automatically to protect against damage from excessive heat for example.
