13" rMBP Late 2013 2.6Ghz 256ssd - Does this model really exist?

Hi all,

While trying to find a good bargain on a rMBP in eBay, I found this technical specs on a couple UK models:

13" rMBP Late 2013 2.6Ghz 256ssd 16GB.

Looked pretty good to me. The weird thing is that I've checked on Apple's website, and macrumors website, and both state that this version's 2.6Ghz processor, are only matched with 512SSD storage.

I knew that the newer generation (mid 2014) would mount 128/256/512 ssd's on 2.6Ghz processors, but not on the Late 2013 version.

How is this possible? Are there other versions of Late 2013's? or is it actually a Mid 2014 version, even though in the specs panel of the Mac it's clearly stated Late 2013?

The 'stock' models of them meant that the 2.6GHz CPU would always be paired with the 512GB SSD.

The BTO models (build-to-order, where you customise on Apple's online store) mean that you can add additional RAM/different CPU. So it's likely the model you're buying was the stock 2.4GHz/256GB, but they chose to upgrade the CPU to 2.6GHz.

EDIT: Just checked the listing. As it's also got 16GB RAM, it definitely was a BTO.

They could have taken a 256gb base model and BTO ordered it with a CPU and RAM upgrade, why you would bother is anyone's guess but people are rarely logical so it is possible.

It could also be a 512gbmodel with a replaced SSD due to failure.

That would make sense. I thought that all models with 2.6Ghz were by default mounting 512SSD. Didn't know that you actually could upgrade the processor from the 2.4Ghz version.
