iOS 14.5 appears to have *semi* gotten around YouTube's refusal to let us PIP their videos from Safari on the iPhone. I say "Semi" because it looks like I have to do "request desktop version" for it to work. Mobile flavor of youtube.com still blocks the inbuilt iOS PIP feature. Does anyone know if Apple was trying to make YouTube's "block PIP" trickery not work anymore? ISTR seeing something about this in previous threads about 14.5 betas.

Anyway, for NOW (until YouTube figures out the desktop version thing) I'll enjoy this. Yes, I know about the "install a trick shortcut" method but I'd prefer to not have to do that.

I like how macrumors posted that it was working again when the beta was released but nothing since then.

I wonder how long until YouTube removes that request desktop trick.
