So I got my 14” MacBook Pro M3 Pro with 18gb Mem and 1tb SSD - now I think I want 36gb mem - but the same computer otherwise - So I thought of trading in - but Apple will only give me $950 - Another will give me $1350 - which means I would be in the same place (Paying off $200 a month) as before - is this something you guys would do_ Or would you deal with it and wait for the M4 Pros to come out? Or is there some other method to get what I want?

I definitely think that you should wait a few weeks, the M4 MacBooks are expected next month and you will have the choice between the latest and greatest or a discounted M3 MBP.

You're almost always better off selling instead of trading in. If you can live without it for a bit, you'll get more for it now than you would once the M4 models come out.

While true, Best Buy sometimes offers some pretty sweet trade-in deals. They took my "ïn-meh-condition" 2018 MBP 13" 8GB/256GB for $367 just last month (apple offered me $170), which was more than most were willing to pay for when I tried to sell it.
