Does anyone here have any experience with dead pixels? I returned a perfect MBP with a dead pixel in the middle of the screen, the genius at the Apple store said it was good I returned it because dead pixels tend to spread. I'm on another unit now that has two dead pixels right next to the time all the way in the top right corner of the screen that I can't even see since I use a dark wallpaper. I've never had anything with a dead pixel, what are the chances of it spreading?

Not the best photo but right next to the M...

At least you know for sure that it is not a dead pixel.

My advice?
You have one year of warranty (two years in the UK and EU). Enjoy the device and if things change make a warranty claim for repairs.

Then it's not a dead pixel. Dust got in underneath the glass during assembling at the factory. If it bothers you, I think you can use warranty for this

After spending that much dust under the screen or anything wrong with it would bother me.
Why are you people so forgiving with Apple but if this was MicroSoft there would be a lynching involved.

Somehow, I think I got extremely unlucky with a defective machine, because out of the blue I was met with an entire row of dead pixels. Already reached out to have the machine looked at/replaced, because the price is way too high for it to give me problems two weeks into ownership.

(Note the dead pixels going across the screen, most visible under the chat bubble icon.)

Whole line indicates a defective LCD controller.

Yep, I return every machine in the 14 day return window if I detect any flaw. At some point I returned 5 MacBook Pro's and I was seriously wondering when Apple was going to put a stop to this, but they were cool with it.

But i must admit the Quality Control at Apple has improved alot in comparison to the past. Nowadays, if I order something from Apple, it is flawless on my 1st try.

Actually 6 in the UK iirc if you can show it’s a manufacturing defect.
