I have an aging XS Max with 78% battery health and Applecare+. I’ve been holding onto it with a plan to upgrade this fall.
I took it to Apple to get the battery serviced in the meantime, and they said they couldn’t service it or replace it because they don’t have any stock of XS Max anymore. They offered to exchange it for a 14 Plus instead.
Initially, I didn’t want this trade, because I didn’t want to go from a flagship “pro” phone to an entry level model. But then I started looking at specs, and it seemed to me that the 14 Plus equaled or slightly excelled in every spec vs XS max, I’m guessing because it’s a few years more recent.
Is this a reasonable offer from Apple? Is there any way the 14 Plus would be a downgrade?
I know these are both old phones—I have money saved up and a plan to get the 17 Pro Max in Oct. Thank you!
