Displaymate released their findings today and the 14 Pro Max peaks around 1000 nits with a full white screen in high ambient light which is the exact same as the 13 Pro Max.

When I compared both phones in high ambient light with a full white background they looked identical so I was wondering with which APL Apple was getting 2000 nits. Turns out it’s 1%. 😝 Apple has stooped to Samsung’s level this year in their advertising.

Already documented that white will not deliver 2000 nits. Go outside with colourful screen and it should brighten up.

It’s unfortunate that DisplayMate only tests 1%, 50%, and 100% APL. It’s possible the 14 Pro Max is brighter at 10% or 25% as well, which would be noticeable in real world scenarios, but DisplayMate didn’t test anything between 1% and 50%.
