Very tempting indeed - I kind of wish my MBP M1Pro 14 wasn't such an amazing beast. :D (I believe the $1799 is only seen if you are a Best Buy Plus member.) I have been considering bumping up to a 16" as I do more coding, but I also found a deal on Amazon for a new M1 Pro 16" for ~$1900 with a 30% coupon! Taking it to ~$1300. Which is extremely tempting as well.

The $2,199 Deal for the 16“ MBP w/ 36 RAM is a pretty incredible deal. Only $200 more than the regular price for the base model for double the RAM. It’s tempting even though I sold that exact config a month ago lol

Why did you sell it? What are you using now?

I’m very undecided between the two options I listed above. I don’t need the 16” pro, but u love larger screens

I sold it for a 14" (fully loaded spec). I found with the 16" it just lived on my desk; with the 14" I am using it a lot more since it weighs a lot less and is more portable. I do miss the larger screen and better battery life of the 16" though.

Just got home with the 16". Getting it set up and browsing around here while the update downloads. I already love the extra screen real estate. I am super happy. Best Buy member price was $1799 and I had $40 in points so I got it for $1759 down from $2500

Care to share?
Sure - I have had this in and out of my cart all day - alternating with the Best $1799 M3Pro one. You have to clip the coupon, and the discount only appears at checkout. It's really tempting - but I think it can only be returned unopened within 15 days. I'm trying really hard to buy nothing.

Thanks! I think I’ll go with the Best Buy option but I’ll stew on this one for a day.

I just checked back and it seems to have gone now. It was a good offer. I'm also considering the BB option.

With the rumored base ram increasing to 16 gb does that disqualify a MacBook with 18 gb of ram no matter the discount?

I just bought an open box M1Pro MBP 16 inch on woot for $1123! I just feel I need the extra height for my code - and width to see columns of HTML, CSS, JS code clearly alongside one another will be great too! I was looking at cobbled together solutions such as portable monitors, then at another iPad (I already have an iPad and am frustrated with not being able to use SideCar in portrait [I tried BetterDisplay but stopped wrestling with it after a while]). I can still get a decent trade-in value for my MBP 14 so it will end up costing around $300 real price when all is said and done.

Based on how well my 14 inch is running after all this time on 16 GB, I have no worries swapping it out for the 16 inch version. Also - I noticed that when I used the apple comparison tool, all M1 and onwards models are highlighted as being Apple Intelligence ready - so I don't foresee the 16 GB causing me any problems for a good while.

And if the M4s deliver something earth-shattering, I will sell this one and upgrade to M4 when crazy sales start happening for it this time next year. ☺️

It is in the same dull Space Gray color, so I'm hoping my husband and kids don't even notice I have bought yet another tech toy (it's not a toy, but I don't want to justify my purchase haha).

Everyone enjoy all your Labor Day weekend bargains!! 🥳

Disqualify from what?
The point of the articles showing sale price are premised on its too good of a deal to pass up, as all these machines could have been purchased off sale the last 12 months. So if the premise is to purchase now not because you need one but it's a good deal is it a good deal if the base ram is increased?

FWIW, it looks like only the RAM for the non-Pro / Max chips might increase (given that the article showed that the RAM was in 16 / 32 GB variants. I would be surprised if they upgraded RAM in the Pro / Max chips as well, given that they just did last year as well... but then again, maybe it might not make sense to upgrade M4 machines to 16GB minimum, so close to the 18GB minimum of the Pro chips.

Are you asking if these deals are no longer good deals If base ram is increased with new releases? They aren't going to increase the base ram and decrease the base price by $700-$1000, which is what these deals get you.

Honestly the prices are good but it’s so close to the release of the M4 that i would wait. Also the rumors of the base Mac models getting 16gb means the pros would i theory get double so 32gb of ram.

But the new base models, even with base 16gb, won't be anywhere near these prices, which include 16 or more gb of ram. I'm not getting what the base ram increasing in the next models has anything to do with it.
