Hi there I am debating between:

Option 1 14 inch M2Pro 12/19 ,32 GB , 1TB
Option 2 14 inch M2Max 12/ 30, 32 GB, 1 TB

I only want one of these option. please don't recommend MBA :)

1.My question is how does the M2Pro 12/19 behave vs. 12/30 M2max?
My question is related to heat? fan noise? battery life for light use ( like 3-5 tabs open listing to music , word, excel, email kind of light office use? ) and how much battery life can you get if you use heavy workload like da Vinci ? working with 4k ? exporting ....

2. Would you say the M2max would behave similar to the M2pro 12/30 if you are doing just office task? Zoom? Skype? you are on the go...
3. Also the increased bandwidth 200GB/s to 400GB/s its two times as fast does it make any difference? meaning are the 32gb on the max faster then the one on the m2pro? would it be better if you have the 32gb of ram on a max since they have more bus controller ?? or no difference ?
4. Would you say the M2 max is more future proof than the m2pro?
5. Would you say the M2 max battery will degrade faster than the M2Pro like wear and tear?
6. If you run programs and you have more cores is it better if the load is spread between them so each core does 30% of work so more cores are generally better GPU and CPU wise? I guess a lot of program are not optimized yet so maybe not take advantage of all the cores ?

I keep my devices for 8-10 years at least , I would like to buy something which I can also grow into graphic wise I am not a pro but I do video and foto editing...maybe also trying some 3d animations in the future. My goal is it to have one device fits all approach. I am thinking if I now get the additional graphic performance I could benefit years down the road.

Ideally, The m2max option would behave the same as the m2pro option for light office tasks like good battery life good thermals etc....because Iam not doing any heavy task when I am on the go..and at home when I am connected to power supply ...I can also do some heavier work.

it would be bad if the m2max would soak up battery and bad thermals for something like : 4-5 tabs, word endnote , zoom?,Skype, SSPS, Graphpad Prism, giving lectures on powerpoint

I know its all a trade off but I need real life experience from user not rumors!

I watched all the YouTube videos , searched forums......all about the " M2max in a 14 inch" issue.......

Some say heating it gets throttled badly....go for 16 inch
Some say it does not throttle its just normal computing fan noise is normal for that load since smaller chasis
Some say it does not throttle .....its a lack of power supply....
Some say if you customize the fan curve manually it would not throttle.......

My first question is does this only apply to the M2MAX? or is the M2pro 12/19 also affected in 14 inch size?
Unfortunately , I don't know what's true.....please if someone with the same M2max configuration and M2pro configuration could share their first hand user experience I would be very thankful. Iam totally fed up with this "M2MAX 14 inch" issue and bad thermals and poor battery , throttling issue......please elaborate

also last question will M2pro 10/16 and 32gb and 1TB, stay much much cooler? and more battery life? compared to the M2 12/19......when ppl talk about heating, thermals throttling it all pertains to the M2max.....in 14 would like to know how these issues pertain to M2pro 12/19 vs M2pro 10/16 core as well!

Thanks you so much! I know its a long text. You will help me a lot !

Chris

A 14” M2P 12/19, 32GB, 1TB is $2899
A 14” M2M 12/30, 32GB, 1TB is $3099

The only question you should be asking at this point is if you’re ever going to hook up more than two external monitors. If the answer is no, just by the Pro. If the answer is yes, buy the Max.

If you wanted the external monitor support of the Max, I’d strongly suggest looking at refurb at a refurb M1 Max. You can get the 32GB 1TB version for $2400 and there’s not enough between that and the M2 Max version to justify an extra $700.

Hi thanks for you note, I know the price difference . Like I can get the pro this is for sure easy to do already made up my mind. However my reasoning is its only a difference about 200 bucks I am hoping for real life experience from ppl who have a 14 inch m2max.....is there any downside to the M2pro in 14 inch......besides the extra cash....

Like thermal, ? fan , battery..........like I described above there is so much **** going on about the 14inch M2max which I need to understand if its true or not.

do you have any insight in this issue ? I will get the option 1 at least .....but the max offers more for relatively moderate cash. so I would like to know the downsides for that.......basically I am looking for real world experience for the M2max in 14 inch....how bad is this issue in reality ?

Thanks!!

I told you the only question you need to be asking yourself. Everything else you’re mentioning doesn’t matter if you’re going to turn around and say that you really need to hook up three monitors because the decision is made for you at that point.

I picked a Max for one reason. So I could drive four external displays. If I only wanted two I would have gone with a Pro.

ok you think the issues with 14 inch M2max do not matter at all interesting thank you so much!

What are you specs? do you have a 14 inch M2 Max or 16? what are your specs? Are you completely happy with it? any regrets? buyers remorse? would you spec something different now?

Thanks you so much for your help!
