This thread is for all those contemplating the mbp but who are worried that the mbp may be too big. My old laptop, a 12" Dell, is actually almost the same size as the mbp. The mbp is much thinner, but also wider (due to the screen). The dell and the mbp have around the same depth mainly because the dell has an extended battery. Enjoy!

For some reason the MBP looks a lot larger then it really is. I think this can be attributed to the fact that it's wider and the keyboard is stuck in the center with the speakers flanking it, I compared it to my old laptop (which seemed smaller) and they were practically the same size.

it may look larger, but really it is not. I'm glad I got it instead of the macbook.

And yes, the Dell has many fingerprints...it's the "family" laptop. Goes everywhere, too. Even when I clean it, it just gets dirty again. Another reason to go with the matte...doesn't get as dusty and thus requires less fingerprint-work.
