15 cool word illusions

Say aloud the ink color of each word. How quickly can you do it? Did you slow down?

EDIT: ModNote: the following link is NSFW (at least, for me, there's quite a bit of porn advertising on the page, although the blog itself is pretty good)

check out the rest of them.
Amazing how the mind works.

This was my fav :apple: (posted above) - which one did you like?

oh man i slowed down so much towards the end. had a 'brain-dead' couple of seconds trying to figure out what colour the word "red" was on the second to last line.

I've never had a problem doing this excercise for some reason. I guess I'm just good at focusing on what the color is instead of looking at what the word is. Then again I don't multitask well.

omg i slowed down in the middle, but my brain caught on, and i went super fast at the end.
but lmao that was fun and interesting i'll show this to my friends

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5G77 Safari/525.20)

This is a cool word illusion!
Towards the end, I started to slow down because I couldn't think as fast anymore!
Thank you for sharing. :)

Loved reading all the responses. And I thought it was only my brain that was "conditioned" and assumed and overlooked things! :)

Haha, no. The Stroop effect (what you see in the first one that you inlined in your post) has been well known since the 20's.... Most of the figure ground research goes back to the first half of the 20th century also, although we're still understanding the underlying neurobiology.

P.S. The Love Hate shirt is great. I wants.

P.P.S. Please note the note I added to your OP....

I didn't have much trouble with that either.. It's kind of a matter of just getting into that 'see only colour' frame of mind.

One trick is only look at the last letter, since when you see the first letter or two your brain tends to fill in the rest..
