I took my C2D MBP in to the apple store yesterday and looked at it side by side a new C2D MBP SR and the LED screen not only looks more uniform, but looks brighter!

At first i thought this was just because my computer was running off battery so I switched mine to power and the SR on battery was still brighter.

I know this could be a color calibration difference but side by side my C2D MBP compared to C2D MBP SR looked like my old powerbook titanium did compared to my MBP.

i thought in terms of brightness it wasnt supposed to be any brighter. It could be just the whiteness of the LED backlighting making it appear brighter.

try turning both down to half way and see which is brightest. You'd be surprised.

nevertheless, this is old news as to LED screens being overall better than the 2nd Gen.

I have a 1st generation MBP in my office and I recently bought a SR MBP. The difference in maximum brightness level is very noticeable. I'm not sure if the older MBP LCD is just getting old with age or if the new MBP is legitimately brighter but it does look like the latter for all the accounts I've read posted on the net.
