The UK and US site have a 5-7 day shipping estimate on both 15" MBPs - anyone know what this is about?

5-7 days a problem? Hah!

They're in demand, so Apple currently don't have stock lying around - the ones they build, they sell, and there's a queue (which some of us have been stuck in for a month already).

Only a short while ago the estimate for some confugurations of the 15" machine would get you a 4-6 *week* estimate. And while for the most part they seem to have gotten on top of that and shipped them all early, some folks are still waiting.

So if you want one, get in line - a few days isn't so bad (though if you're lucky I suppose you might find an Apple store with some in stock).

Interesting. The Apple Store for Education Institutions has the wait time for the 15" as 1-2 weeks. If you order a 17" with the high res screen it's 4-6 weeks. WTF? In the past, this has meant that they are clearing the channel for product updates. But it could very well be that they are in high demand.

That is exactly what it means. They have been on a 5-7 day stock wait since they were released. I ordered mine the day after they came out and it said 5-7 days. If you customize it at all you are looking at at least 2 weeks.

It has been this way since they came out. There is nothing weird happening and NO they are not clearing out the channel getting ready for an update. It hasn't even been a month since the last rev was released. A lot of people want one of these and the demand is higher than the supply right now. That is all it means.
